1. How many schools did you apply to?
2. How many offered secondaries?
3. How many invited you to interview?
4. How many acceptances did you recieve?

I am just trying to get an idea of what the ratios look like.
e.g. secondary/applications, Interview/secondaries, acceptance/interviews.

P.S. thanks to all who take time to respond to my idle curiousity.

3. Not enough.
4. Ask me later.

How did these non-EDP schools get around the Oct 15th rule?

From last year:

19 schools applied to.

All but one offered me a 2ndary.

Of the remainder I was offered 11 interviews and got 4 rejections post-2ndary and three I withdrew from pre-returning a 2ndary.

I attended 7 of the interviews and turned down the remainder.

I was waitlisted at one school and accepted at the rest of the schools at which I interviewed.

I was lucky in that my first acceptance was about a week after my first interview and that enabled me to start eliminating schools from consideration early on.

Here is my list
Applied to 15
Secondaries: 14 (pending one from UNC)
Interview invites: 3 so far
Acceptence: 1

I applied to about 16 schools, a wide range from harvard to NYMC.

I didnt fill out three secondaries.

I have been rejected presecondary from stanford and post secondary from gtown though i think i just pissed them off by calling to much. No lie...

I have recieved interviews at four schools and have not heard from the rest. Though some have given interviews to others.

I will most likely cancel on interview and use the cash to send my secondary to duke and UAB.

I have one acceptance so far. (which is all that matters!)

Gleevec thats a good question, I was told "we break it"
I think its just an agreement between schools but no one is obligated under threat of some sort of force to comply. I mean, some schools just dont use AMCAS, they just decide not to. Maybe the same for the oct 15th rule. Though it seems pretty universal.

To these that got accepted:

Can admission committee in different schools talk to each other, as in discuss/share what I wrote on their secondary essays?

here's my info on this:
applied to 21 thru amcas (very wide range)

received secondaries through all

sent secondaries back to 17

received 9 interview invites so far

have gone on 4 so far, and have 3 more scheduled and will withdraw from the other 2 since they're lower ranked in my head than the 1 school i've been unofficially accepted at

From last year:

1) applied to 18 schools (all CA schools xcept 1 and various out of state schools) -- applied late, at the end of September
2) offered 17 secondaries
3) invited to 2 interviews (UCSF and SLU)
4) waitlisted at both, accepted to SLU (SLU started before UCSF's waitlist movement, though there isn't much movement)

Good luck!!

Applied to 22 schools.
All of them gave secondaries or requested $$.
11 interview invites (went to 7 of them).
Received 3 acceptances.

I applied to 42 schools ( osetopathic and allopathic)
I recieved 39 requests for supplementals so far
I interviewed at 5 schools ( I was offered more but I got my first choice so I stopped interviewing)
so far I have been acceoted to two schools and I am waiting to hear from the other three

jmarra - where have you been accepted?

Good lord! 42 schools?! You should be granted an acceptance based on tenacity.

WVSOM west virginia School of Osteopathic medicine
and UNECOM University of New England COllege of Osteopathic Medicine.

I will be attending UNECOM.

from last year

applied 13
secondaries for 12 of them
turned in 11 secondaries
offered 8 interviews
attended 7 interviews
rejected post-interview 1
waitlisted post-interview 2
accepted post-interview 4 -- and withdrew from all waitlists at this point, so i don't know if i would have gotten into them or not.

but I knew exactly where I wanted to be.
my stats
3.86 GPA
32R MCAT
Tons of EC's inc. research, patient care (paramedic), leadership, publications.

spoons, I don't know for sure if ADCOMs talk to each other, but I would assume that on some level they do. I think med schools are a fairly small community, and it just seems to me that people in admissions would somehow know one another, if even on a limited basis.

AMCAS: 10
Secondary: Decided to turn in only 7 secondaries
Invited for Interview: 7

So far gone to 5 interview and have two coming up in this month and next month. Just been enjoying this long application ride. :D
