For those lucky few who got merit scholarships, do you mind sharing your stats? Just wondering if I am even eligible...

Also, did anyone get a chance to see the anatomy lab? I know it's on the 6th floor or something, with windows, but they never showed it to us!!!

Lastly, I noticed a few of you mentioning your preference for Einstein over NYU, can you share why?

thanks guys!

yunfat...whats up? I don't really have any answers to your questions...just showing you some love. I didn't get a merit scholarship (yet), didn't see the anatomy lab, and didn't apply to NYU. However, I like Einstein. The cirriculum seems well-balanced and allows ample free time for personal time and exploration. Are you planning on attending? At the moment, I am going to Einstein in the fall, but might end up staying in Seattle and go to UW. We'll see. Nevertheless...cheers!

I don't know how Einstein determines their merit scholarships, I know one person got one with ~3.4 and 29MCAT, but another who had a 3.8 and 34.

Depending on when you interviewed, you may or may not see the anatomy lab. Einstein runs anatomy November through March. They like to acclimate their students to school first, then give them anatomy. Also, lab is from 12-5, so if your tour doesn't run around those hours, you won't see the lab. It is only accessible by student and instructors, the tour guides wouldn't have keys. I didn't see the lab, I heard it's like any other anatomy lab. It has a wall of windows and great air ventalation.

Hey All Einsteiners,

I have an interview at the "big Al" in late April. I was wondering if this buys me an automatic ticket to rejection city or waitlist....or if I still can be admitted right away into the class if they like me. I'm so psyched!!! I want to interview now! Errrr..... <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" />

hey guys, thanks for bringing this thread out of the grave!

I actually called the admissions office and asked about the scholarships... they looked at my file and told me I wasn't going to be considered for any... (my numbers were not stellar)

although when I told them that I knew ppl with similar and less impressive numbers getting them, she told me that there is a certain amount of $$$ reserved for recruiting URMs. (which I am not)

hope the info is helpful!

(i am still not sure whether i'll be going to Einstein yet... still waiting to see if MSSM will interview and accept me, and am also on Pitt's waitlist... but Einstein is definitely still on the list. I'll be visiting there again sometime in the next couple weeks... my friend is going to give me a more indepth tour... hospitals, research centers, ANATOMY LAB! :) )

will keep you guys updated!

miami, you definitely have a good shot still... a large # (and I do mean large) of the entering class is actually from the waitlist!!!

plus, Eistein will be interviewing until June... so you are definitely not in a bad position!

Good luck on the interview... and let us know if you have any questions!

enjoy it, the ppl there are EXTREMELY nice... both students, admin, and faculty...

(agent cooper, thanks for the love...have you gotten into UW yet?)

sorry for the repeated posts...
miami, i think you still have a good shot at getting in straight-up... as the end of March comes around, positions will start to open up as ppl withdraw, and they can easily offer one of those to you...

good luck on the interview! :)

If I were a little more SDN tech savvy, I would look for one of my old posts about Einstein interviews. They accept ~180 students in their first batch in January (all interviews up to January 15th.) From that point on, their acceptances are on a rolling basis. They interview over 1000 of their 7000-8000 applicants and ouright accept 2-2.5x their class size. They pull many from their waitlists because obviously, many students will prefer to be at a state school or in Manhattan. I think last year, they accepted 500 for 180 spots. Good luck.

Yunfat, No problem on bringing up the thread...we needed some Einstein commentary. No UW yet. They said I would get a "status report" no later than the first week of April. Let me know of your 2nd impressions of Einstein. I was thinking of returning for a visit, but its a little expensive when you're coming from Seattle. On interview day, I had a great interview at Montefiore and missed most of the student lunch and really only had the opportunity to talk in-depth with one student, who showed me his apartment and gave me a brief tour before meeting up with the rest of the bunch. My impressions of the facilities were not the greatest, but I do not think I saw a representative amount and the construction on campus surely did not provide a pretty sight. However, I love their cirriculum and the student body seems mature and relaxed. The immediate Bronx environs seem a bit lacking, but I can deal with that. I've decided what good I hear in regards to Einstein outweighs the lesser attractive things, like the boring neighborhood, etc. Anyways, let me know about you're 2nd visit. until then...
