Hi everyone,
I'll be applying for residency in diagnostic radiology this fall. I appreciate in advance any help I can on the following questions:
The last question I have is unrelated to personal statements but has to do with letters of rec. I have three letters of rec that I will be using to apply for radiology programs (1 in peds, 1 in IM, 1 in rads). Should I just go ahead and use those same three letters for the TY/prelim IM programs? All three are strong and if I were to replace the radiology one with a different IM letter, I don't feel like it would add anything that hasn't already been mentioned. But if anyone has any suggestions on this matter, I'd love to hear your advice.
Sorry for the long post but hopefully this can help out other candidates who might have similar questions too. I appreciate your help!
I'll be applying for residency in diagnostic radiology this fall. I appreciate in advance any help I can on the following questions:
- Should I write a personal statement for TY/prelim programs or should I use the same one I'm using for my core residency programs (I'm going into diagnostic radiology so the personal statement is rads-focused)
- The length of my personal statement is 1.5 pages single-spaced in a word document and comes out to around ~850 words. I've heard different opinions about the length (some say keep it around ~500 words, some say one-paged single-spaced, some say it doesn't matter). I was wondering if anyone has any definitive answers regarding this.
- I was planning on customizing my personal statement to 3-5 programs that I have a particular interest/connection with. What is the best way to do this exactly? I plan on just adding a few sentences/small paragraph at the end of my personal statement but I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions.
