it is naming a compound and i narrowed it down with

phenyl-2-methylbutanoate
or
phenoxy-2-methylbutanoate

the benzene ring is attached to ester, (-O-BENZENE)
so i thought it is phenoxy, but the answer choice says phenyl

if phenyl, shoulnd R should be directly attached to benzene?
and if phenoxy, O is attached to benzene?

since ester group's O is attached to benzene,
i thought it was phenoxy but the answer is phenyl

can anyone help plz? :)

When naming esters the group on on the oxygen is 1st in the whole name and it is specifically "phenyl" since the benzene is a substituent / it's smaller than the molecule it is attached to.
