Do psychiatrist find self hypnosis to be a pseudo concept? I'm trying to help overcome brain "foggyness" when studying. Can It help?
If it isn't a real thing can somebody explain it to me?

Ah, re-reading your post.

Self-hypnosis is essentially putting yourself into a trance state and then using that state for personally beneficial purposes, with trance work related tools.

Generally a trance can be conceptualized as a state of heightened concentration, dissociation, and possibly suggestibility. It's theoretically possible to use this for studying (I will incorporate it sometimes in my non-med ADHD protocol), but I would not say it's common.

I don't think a typical psychiatrist will have much of any understanding or exposure to hypnosis through their training. I had a small amount of background through voluntary psychoanalytic study, but that's it personally. And it's not enough to answer your question.
