What time did your interview end? Can I take a 5pm flight? I can't miss the flight b/c I'm going to another interview that is on the next day. What do you guys think?

Mine was done at 3, but there were some that were after mine. I'd call UVM and find out if you have an early interview or a late one, and change your flight accordingly.

I wasn't out of there until 6 but most people had theirs much earlier than me...

Thanks. Is the interview early or late in the day? I guess it depends.....

The letter says I will be finished around 4pm. Do you think I can make the flight at 5? Is the airport close to the school?

The interview is at the end of the day. Call and see if you can be one of the first interviewed. I wouldn't try to catch a 5:00 flight if you're not done until around 4:00. You can never predict how long an interviewer will want to talk.

Is it stupid to change my interview from 4/2 to 4/16? Aren't they going to wait list me anyway and decide in May?

I really can't get from one interiew to the other--it's too risky, and I think it would be easier to make 2 separate trips.

(I have Vermont 4/2 and Finch 4/3 as of now)

Yes, I would change the interview date--you are now interviewing for waitlist spots, so it won't matter when you go to interview (I interviewed in April three years ago, and got the #1 spot on the waitlist).

It's not worth the chance of missing an interview. Besides it will give you a little more time to explore Chicago...I'm in Milwaukee, but Chicago is really a great place to visit.

Good luck!

Have you talked to Vermont about whether you can be one of the early interviewees? Because I think you could make your flight easily, if your were able to do that. I'm not sure where Vermont is in their Interview process, but I'd hate to push back a date by 2 weeks. Good luck -- I know how stressful these multi-interview trips can be. :)

I don't know dr. foxy, I interviewed in early jan and am still waiting...other people who interviewed with me who I kept in touch with have heard (one rejected, one waitlisted) so I have no idea if they are full or not...rumor is that if you are out of state your chances of getting a wl are much higher than an out right acceptance

Right trout, i heard from altaskier that unless you are hot $hit and get in immediately, all out of staters are wait listed until they can try to fill their class with in-staters. They form 3 tiers of their waitlist and the first tier usually gets in. So my guess is it might not make a difference when I interview.

If I keep what I have scheduled, I have to take 2 connecting flights to get to Chicago, which is scary! With only half an hour stopover time in between I could easily miss a flight. :(

This sux! :p

yeah i'm gonna get up early tomorrow and call vermont to push my interview back <img border="0" alt="[Pity]" title="" src="graemlins/pity.gif" />

Did you call Vermont requesting a 2pm interview? When I interviewed there, applicants had a 1 hour interview either at 2pm or 3pm. If you request a 2pm interview, you shouldn't have any problem getting to the airport at 5pm because it's really close (maybe 15 minutes?). Good luck. It can be really tough to coordinate stuff like this.

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for your advice! :D

I just spoke to Mary Keefe and she gave me the 2 pm interview, so I'll be done at 3 and can make my 4:45 pm flight to get to Chicago.

Geez, I also am going to Florida for Spring Break on March 26th and flying back to Boston on March 31st to take the April 1st flight to Vermont.

Let's just say my credit card is VERY happy right now and my debt is not! :p :( :) :D

Feels great to have ALL my interview plans worked out. Now if only interview feedback would come back to me......

ok, i'm going back to sleep. Buenas noches!

With those close connections, I would definitely recommend taking your interview duds (and that hair straightening iron  in a carry-on (and most airlines are not allowing garment bags as carry-ons anymore :( ). My luggage did not make it to Burlington with me (but luckily turned up before my interview).

Good luck with all your interviews, Foxy!! :D :) :D

Thanks SMW! I've been following ur advice all along and only take a small carry on suitcase with me :) I have this little trick that if I fold my suit neatly on tissue paper it doesn't wrinkle.

Did you guys ever fly on those dash 8 planes? They only hold 37 passengers. I took one from gainesville and now I'm taking one to vermont. They're so tiny and scary!

oh and from vermont to chicago I only have one connection with an hour and a half stopover time in boston (woohoo!) so it should be ok. :D

DoctorFoxy....just remember that UVM putting all the interviewers on the waitlist is true, BUT since they do it to ALL students, the med student told me that it really isn't a waitlist. Ask them about this when you go there, but I'm sure they'll tell you. Just be yourself. My point in saying this is that I don't think you can consider yourself interviewing for waitlist spots at UVM because of the way they run it. I really believe that at UVM they are looking to see if you'd be interested in living in Vermont and why. If you can show them this, and write them a strong letter of interest (saying you get put on the waitlist) you'll be fine. No worries!

Good Luck

If you want to know what I was asked at the interview and how it was, etc...PM me.

Altaskier, that isn't true that they put all out-of-staters on the waitlist. Myself and (I think)Kutastha got accepted outright and I am sure there have been others. I was surprised because everything I have been hearing for the last few years is that Vermont always waitlists non-Vermonters. And I don't think I qualify as "hot ****" as Doctora put it. Plenty of other schools obviously thought I sucked judging from my large stack of rejections. I guess they just thought I was a really good match for whatever reason. It was really flattering and surprising. So I think anyone interviewing could concievably get accepted outright unless the class is full obviously.

I just wanted to let DoctorFoxy know how things are run at UVM so that she'd have a better idea of the admissions process. I just kind of transmitted what I had heard at UVM. I too got accepted right off the bat and wasn't on the waitlist. That is why I stressed that most get waitlisted, but some can get accepted right off the bat. I hope DoctorFoxy can share in our luck. BTW.....I'm not hot **** either DoctorFoxy....so if I can do it......... so can you!

With that said, Good Luck

Yeah, I would say she has a pretty good chance. Just go in there and wow them Doctora Foxy! I think they truly "look at the whole person" not just at numbers, instead of giving lip service to this idea like so many other places. UVM is a fine place.

Is that a polite way to say they'd be checking out her a$$???? <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" />

Thanks guys :D . I kept my early interview date so I'm happy. I heard they like primary care and patient contact--I'd actually be a good match for what they want :D

and haha UCLA2K que chistoso eres! <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" />

and just to clarify, I didn't mean hot $hit in any negative way, I just meant they accept the really good ones fast :)Congrats to those who are already accepted! :D

No Foxy I took no offense at the "hot $hit" comment. I'm just modest and was trying to point out that I was accepted right away without being mega-exceptional (IMHO).It could happen to you. (Screw Tufts :) ) I am officially rooting for you Foxy! I'm sure you'll keep us posted...

UCLA...if the old guy who interviewed mechecked out my ass he did it subtly w/o me knowing about it. :)
