I took a gap year job. I am making some decent cash, but I am finding that I am not learning much that will be relevant in my future career in medicine and the position feels unrewarding... I want to look for things that are more related to medicine and my interests, even if those pay less. Should I quit my job? If so, how early is too early to quit? How do med schools look at this kind of situation? I already have a few interviews and my applications are in.

You can quit. Just say, I eventually decided to pursue other ventures. At least you didn't get fired from a job, like me, lol.

You should never quit your job until you have a new one waiting for you.

How did that affect your chances if at all? Also what would be a reasonable timeframe to quit?

Let's also assume that I have a position lined up (though they pay less)
