I'd really like to find a RA job after I graduate in December. How soon should I start looking? Is it okay to contact professors even if there are no RA positions listed in the job postings?

Yes! I contacted a professor with whom I wanted to volunteer with. She told me she was on sabatical. I asked if she had openings in the next couple semesters in her research lab to let me know. A couple months later, she invited me to interview for a full-time RA position.

Also, if they aren't taking on an RA, they may know someone in the same area who is - I have found networking is extremely valuable:thumbup:
