The coolest thing happened today!

I grossed in this huge testicular tumor over the weekend and the slides came out yesterday. I looked at it for FOREVER and studied all these books and papers about testicular tumors. Finally I called it a large cell calcifying sertoli cell tumor (LCCSCT). Problem is, there have been less than 50 of these ever reported worldwide. So obviously its extreme rarity made me feel a little unsure, but I called it anyway.

So at signout this morning my attending was really excited about it and thought it might be a LCCSCT. He took it to a consenus conference with all the surg path faculty and they agreed. Everybody is talking about it this afternoon and showing it around. 🙂

So, not only did I get one of the world's coolest and rarest tumors, I actually called it correctly!! 👍 👍

This is why I went into pathology. 😎

YAY BEARY! that is so awesome! excellent job. we're so proud! *snif*

Thanks! 😀

I don't have the slides right now since the faculty "stole" them and are showing them around but I'm going to take tons of pics and will post them on the path board. 👍

I have to find the gross pic too. Thank goodness I took one!

So are you gonna do a case report??? 😎 You rawk! I want you as my pathologist!

Someone took my orgo lab text during physics today. Some of the same people are in both classes and I think someone accidentally picked my book up and took it home.

I hope they bring it back tomorrow during class!

Rawk on!! Do you get to write it up?

So I got to see some really cool stuff today  😀

One of the patients at the free clinic was diagnosed with Peutz-Jeghers Syndrome (http://www.peutz-jeghers.com/). The doctor said it was so rare that it would most likely be the only case I'd ever seen in my entire career. 😱

I felt really bad for her in the sense that it puts her at higher risk for colon cancer (and this isn't really a community that can afford regular colonoscopies ) But at the same time, I'm really glad we're there. Chances are she would have gone for a really long time without being diagnosed. (Apparently she went to a dermatologist in Mexico about the skin tags and he totally missed it 😡 Supports my theory that "dermatologist" is greek for "Fake Doctor" 🙄 )

Wow, those folks are at high risk of large cell calcifying sclerosing cell tumor! It's Peutz-Jeghers day!

awesome! tres cool! 😛

I have got to start using my crock pot more often. Tonight's dinner: roasted chicken (as in, whole chicken, had to cut it into pieces, meat just falling off the bone..) and mashed sweet potatoes. 😍
Yum!!! I love my crock pot. I need to use it more often too.

Dinner here tonight is burritos from Qdoba. 😀

Are you thinking about dermatology?

If so, you'll be the exception to the rule 😍

Anastasis, I must say that I agree with your Greek synonym.
I have not had the greatest experiences with derms....and Too narrow a specialty pour moi.
But yes, a 👍 to those who dream of becoming the best derms on the planet. 😀

Ok MCAT dominator girl. 🙄

I'm hoping at least T laughs at this.
