the hospital my mom works at has a mcdonalds in the basement

Ha! So does Tampa General have one in their East wing by the clinic where I volunteer when I go to downtown clinic. They also have a starbucks too. In their cafeteria, they have a sbarro pizza place, taco bell, and then some country style places.

Oooooo - Good luck with Michigan!! :luck:

How do you know you'll hear in 3 weeks? Are you on that "March decision" list too?

LMAO!

No, I never applied to big blue... by the time I was filling out secondaries Michigan had 95% of their class filled up... Wayne St. is my top choice... great clinical experience, traditional learning style, lectures on the web, notes for free from the prof before each block... 10 giant hospitals around me. I have to say it's the most underrated school in the country. They are also heavy in to neuropsych which is key for me. It's time to move on from Ann Arbor, I hope....

How is your decision? I see you removed the UT-Houston 2011 line? You giving Indiana a shot? (I'm in Bloomington right now)

Hey is that your diagnostic score in your signature??? If it is, that's pretty good for starting out. I think you'll score a 35+ score cuz most people with mid and early 20's starting points do. 😀

Good luck 🙂

Ohh and good morning!

Yeah that's my dx. I was getting a lot of PMs when I first started talking about my studying so I decided to refer people to the sig. Someone else on here also did well on the same dx. ***cough cough antarctic bird***

I miss my big fat grey tabby... he decided he would spray all over the house, so I had to give him away... although he's on a farm with some nice amish people right now chasing rats and mice, so I'm sure he's happy... (he was a beast of a hunter)

Yeah - I'm waiting for finaid to come through. We'll see what happens. I really love the school but part of me says that giving up a scholarship to an already much cheaper school just because another school gives me the warm-fuzzies may be just a tiny bit irresponsible. 😳

(Mostly my sister is pregnant again so I'd like to be around while he/she and my nephew are growing up).

Wayne St sounds pretty bad ass. So good luck with Wayne St. 🙂 :luck:

We have a Wendy's here. 🙂 Supposedly it is being replaced by a deli/bagel place though.
oh man - probably good that I'm not going to UMich then... I'm so a sucker for Wendy's fries with a frosty to dip them in 😍

Apparently the TMC has some gawd-awful high number of starbucks both in the medical center and in the area immediately surrounding it.

Yeah, Pete (my cat!) likes to ham it up - you can tell he's looking studly in my avatar 😉

What is with grown smart girls and the "warm-fuzzies" ? I've been reading some blogs and it seems to be a re-occurring theme

Max (our dog) is in trooooooubbbble! I walked him before I went to class (left at 8) and came home at noon and he made multiple messes in the house.

Bad dog!

He's going back outside (during the day) when the weather warms up.

Okay one more post from a forward I got then I swear I'm going back to biochem:
The Washington Post's Style Invitational asked readers to take any word
from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting, or changing one
letter, and supply a new definition.

Here are this year's winners:

1. Bozone (n.): The substance surrounding stupid people that stops bright
ideas from penetrating. The bozone layer, unfortunately, shows
little sign of breaking down in the near future.

2. Foreploy (v): Any misrepresentation about yourself for the purpose of
getting laid.

3. Cashtration (n.): The act of buying a house, which renders the subject
financially impotent for an indefinite period.

4. Giraffiti 👎: Vandalism spray-painted very,very high.

5. Sarchasm 👎: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person
who doesn't get it.

6. Inoculatte (v): To take coffee intravenously when you are running late.

7. Hipatitis 👎: Terminal coolness.

8. Osteopornosis 👎: A degenerate disease. (This one got extra credit.)

9. Karmageddon 👎: its like, when everybody is sending off all these really
bad vibes, right? And then, like, the Earth explodes and it's like, a
serious bummer.

10 Decafalon (n.): The grueling event of getting through the day consuming
only things that are good for you.

11. Glibido (v): All talk and no action.

12. Dopeler effect 👎: The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when
they come at you rapidly.

13. Arachnoleptic fit (n.): The frantic dance performed just after you've
accidentally walked through a spider web.

14. Beelzebug (n.): Satan in the form of a mosquito that gets into your
bedroom at three in the morning and cannot be cast out.

15. Caterpallor (n.): The color you turn after finding half a grub in the
fruit you're eating.

And the pick of the literature:

16. Ignoranus 👎: A person who's both stupid and an a--hole.
Holy Crap! Funniest thing that I've read all day.

+2

is "warm-fuzzies" supposed to mean good feelings in the nether regions ? 😉

I'm just a good Catholic boy, I don't know these things 😳 😉
how disturbing would it be if a med school gave me a warm-fuzzy feeling in the nether regions? You know I really want to be a doctor... but that's just wrong. 😱

*sneeze* Oh sorry... I'm just allergic to that bull**** about you being a good Catholic boy.

Congrats!

How do you think you did?

there were 10 EKGs and I got the right diagnosis in 9 of them and listed most of their findings. They went over it after it was over. SO...... overall i think i did pretty well but I know I missed some of the findings we were suppose to put down. Whatever... 1 less exam to worry about. 😀

EKG exam was only worth 2.5% of our grade.... the orals make up 15% and the national shelf makes up 25%, so I still have a huge chunk of my grade to be determined next week.

I'm sure you did great. 🙂

I've heard shelf exams can be evil :scared:

you just have to pace yourself, so far ive taken 4 and done pretty well on 2 and decently on the others. i like them more than a departmental exam because they are standardized and you can just study out of a review book. now orals... THOSE can be evil. totally depends on the examiner.

Thanks guys - I went and talked to the neighbors and apparently the water is off on our whole block. People have called the water company but no sign of a crew. 🙄
