A bunch of very good programs, any of which should be OK for a GI fellowship if you work hard during residency. I'd say if you know where you want to practice (west coast? east coast? midwest? south?), pick based on that.

Of the programs you have, UCLA for the west coast, WashU for the midwest or south, and Yale for the east coast are the most prestigious, and all have strong placement records (and WashU almost always fills all of its GI positions with its own residents, as well as sends quite a few to other good programs).

Good luck! You should do fine.

Tier 1: Stanford, UCLA, Washu, Mayo

Tier 1.34 (pretty darn close to tier 1): Yale, Mt. Sinai, NYU, Michigan, Northwestern. However, of these, Mt. Sinai has the strongest GI program, maybe even stronger than the tier 1 places (it's awesome there)

You will get GI w/ all of these, Congrats on a great rank list!

I disagree, and not just because I'm a Mayo-phile 🙂

The strongest GI departments would be:
Mayo
Michigan
Mt. Sinai=UCLA
Northwestern=Yale
the rest

Look for potential research mentors at your favorite places- it can tip the balance in your ROL and in your GI application.
