It is now down to the last 2 days before the Neurology Match results, and things are out of my hands, but I have a question. Are programs known to rank IMGs who have not yet passed Step 2 CK? I'm aware that the NRMP withdraws you in this case, but the SF Match has no set rule. I suppose it's up to the program whether or not they want to take the chance. Anyone know of any case scenarios where an IMG matched prior to passing all his/her exams?
P.S. I'm hoping for a better response here than I've gotten on the Neurology forum...

I am a neuro match person as well. While I don't pretend to know for sure, I think they will still rank you. That probably depends on the program and what your prior performance was.

A friend of mine last year was in the neurology match and had failed step 1 the first time. Almost all programs made a big deal about asking for the step 2 results. This was probably because they wanted to be sure it was passed. He ended up doing very well and that seemed to "erase" the mistake of the 1st.

I took step 2 in September and had written that in my initial application so I was asked on interviews for the results since they knew I had taken them.
Met several people on the trail who hadn't taken it yet but those were US grads.
My guess would be that if they haven't asked you about it on the interview, etc, they must not care. Surely that would have been brought up (?)

P.S. I didn't reply on the neuro forum because I don't really know for sure. I know what it is like to not get any feedback though so this is my 2 cents. Good Luck. Tomorrow you will know!

Thank you penguins (my favorite animal by the way) for your 2 cents. The programs I interviewed at DID mention Step 2 during the interview just to clarify my status, but only one made a big deal about it. The others I figured either didn't care OR worse, didn't care FOR ME. I called one program (my 1st choice) to follow up on my exam result, and the coordinator said it's "not going to make a difference"...now, is that a good thing or bad thing? See, I got my results the Sat. before match deadline, when most programs had submitted their rank lists already. In any case, I'll just pray for a miracle tomorrow :luck:

Let us know how it works out!
