    Hello Everybody-
How much do ranks and reputation of medical schools matter (for residency placements for example)?

From what I have heard, of course I can't speak from experience, it does matter. But I also think your med school grades, and USMLE scores count for a lot. Also, I have heard that letters of recommendation count pretty heavily toward residency.

So to make a long story longer, I can only speculate. But that's what SDN is about...

Maybe you should post in the allopathic area, and not pre-allopathic, then let us all know...:)

It will help you during your application for residency if you come from a reputable place. If you did well, however, at a less reputable institution, then you'll also be fine.
