Hey everyone,

I'm an Irish graduate applicant to the RCSI graduate entry program (4yr medicine). We EU students have our interviews next week and I was wondering what kind of questions you guys got asked in yours?? Did rcsi interview ye, or was it through atlantic bridge or someone?

Examples of what ye were asked would be brilliant, even though they'll be asking us different stuff probably

thanks :luck:

p.s, if any of you want info on RCSI or dublin or about the courses, send me a msg. i actually work in rcsi and live with some of the med students.

My interview panel consisted of Mr. Curtis and Dr. Windser (or Windsor?)

The interview was very relaxed and I feel that it was very different from the Memorial University (in Newfoundland) interview (which was very structured, the interviewers had a booklet of questions)

The interview started with my major, how much I like my university. They moved onto my private life, where I was from, etc. They also asked me about my MCAT scores, how I felt about the test. Finally it was about my research experience. Dr. Windser also shared some of his insights from his own research. The atmosphere was friendly and the entire interview didn't take more than 30 minutes.

Hey irishgrad,
I'm a Trinity science graduate and interviewed at RCSI for the 5yr course in 2001. They'll assemble everyone in a large room upstairs and then call you in in groups of 5-6 into another room. You are then sent to a table where there will be 2 interviewers.

The interview was about 15-20 minutes and covered the usual topics. Why medicine? Why after studying science? Why RCSI? What could I bring to the class? What exposure to healthcare had I got previously? Research. Grades while at Trinity. Future plans after qualifying etc etc etc. They also asked me how I intended to pay the fees.

All in all, it was an OK interview. The 2 interviewers were very poker faced throughout and gave nothing away.

In the end, I got a rejection letter about 2 weeks later. Anyways, I'm going into Final Med in Trinity now and loving every minute of it!

It was so long ago now, it's hard to give you specific advice! Be prepared for the above questions and current stuff in the media...A+E crisis, Fottrell and Buttimer Reports, postgraduate specialist training routes, HSE, National Treatment Purchase Fund...blah blah blah...the list goes on! Sell yourself on the basis of extra-curricular achievements and highlight you have other interests outside the library...

Best of luck!
