i was wondering...if during the CBT, if u leave questions unanswered does that count against u? in other words, is it better to answer incorrectly or to not answer at all?....would really appreciate a quick reply on this...my exam is in...3 DAYS!!!! 🙁

jojo here 😀
Well, if the correct answer to the question is none of those than you answered it OK by not selecting anything, HOWEVER if one of the choices was right and you did not select anything, that is counts againts you.
I used this system, hope it will help you :
1st time : go thru it and answer ONLY those on which you are 100% that is correct
2nd time : go thru it and answer those which you think it has 2 choices correct, you will have to select one
3rd time : no clue of the answer, you'll have to GUESS
Final : ofcourse if you have enough time for review.
Well, this is the system I used, it help me a lot and also by the procentage of how many you feel you have NO CLUE about you can estimate. 🙂
Good luck, dude for your exam 👍 👍 👍
jojo out 😀

There is NO negative marking, whatsoever (Man, I used to have that in dental school and boy, did I hate it!!!). So absolutely, positively do NOT leave any question unanswered like jojo-Z said, even if you have to close your eyes and take a wild guess 😀

Best of luck on your exam. Go kick some butt, buddy 👍 😉

So what you saying is " do not leave any questions answered", dude, answer all the questions, in the past were couple of them with NONE OF THEM GOOD but recently I noticied that on all you have to answer, I think they took it out those.
I don't get it, you saying leave everytthing blank.
jojo out 😀

Oops, my bad, jojo. I meant "do NOT leave any questions UNanswered....forgot the "UN" there. In other words, it's in your best interest to answer ALL questions, even if you have guess. Sorry, didn't mean to confuse you or anybody. Thanks for correcting me. buddy. Just got out of bed recently and so I guess my brain wasn't working properly

Hey Egyptian.
Leaving a question un-answered, is the same as submitting an (IN-correct) wrong answer.
Your grade on that question will be 0 (zero). Never a negative mark.
Anyways, that's not why i'm posting. The reason I am posting is to tell you GOOD LUCK !

so i finally got around to taking my dental boards!...& can i say...YUCK!...it was a VERY grueling experience!...8 hours of testing!!...BLEKH!!! 😱

the day, march 10, 2006, began at 5:30 in the morning...got up, fixed my lunch, made 4 cups of coffee...ok so i personally didn't have the nerves to fix my lunch, nor make my coffee...my sister did though...thanks nada 😉) got dressed & did some last minute nerve-wracking studying...

6:30 AM...in the car & driving toward seven hills...drinking up as much coffee as humanly possible, fixing my hair, which i had somehow managed to forget doing in the hustle & bustle of the early hours! & trying to figure out the directions...totally difficult!...but what can i say...i'm a multi-talented girl 😉

i get to the test center at 7:00 am...they open at 7:15...what do i do?...some more last minute nerve-wracking studying!!...7:15 i'm up & in the test center registering...the rules...no cell phones, no jackets, no food, no water...the usual...only i didn't need any of these things...what i needed were my eyedrops!...staring at a computer screen for 8 hours & especially after lasik...ur eyes become total deserts!...what does the test center have to say to that?...sorry, can't bring them in with u unless u have special documentation from the ADA stating that u can bring them in!....arrrrrrgh!...this is all i need! 😡

so after some fingerprinting & some mugshots...hehehehe...i get escorted to "the computer" that would become my very best friend for the next 8 hours! 🙁

1st part...anatomy & physiology/biochem...3 & 1/2 hours alloted for 200 questions...none of the questions look anything like the past released exams!! 😕 ...what kind of luck is that?!...around 11:30...my eyes are dry (NO EYEDROPS?!) & i'm about to crash right in front of the computer...i need to get out of here!!!!!!!...

12:00 i'm in my car eating my lunch as fast as possible, drinking as many cups of coffee as possible...oh & did i mention that i'm NOT allowed to go thru notes or books during MY BREAK?!...whhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhyyyyyyyyyyy?!

12:40 i'm back up at the death chamber...please god help me get thru the next 3 & 1/2 hours without falling asleep.... 😴

1:00...my friend the computer tells me that my time is up & that the next part of the exam has begun...yet another 200 questions...microbiology/pathology & dental anatomy...yummy!!...i have just about had enuf!...seriously!

3:45 am done & am about to completely fall over, can't see straight to drive back home...totally numb...yet when i get home i still feel as if i hadn't done anything...was it all a dream?...what?! i mean was it all a nightmare?...did i really take the exam? u mean to tell me that i don't have study today? how is that possible?!...it took me a couple of days to get over all this...i still don't believe i actually took it...it all seemed like one of those blurred, underwater slow motion dreams...WHO CARES!!!!!!!!!!....AM DONE! & that's ALL that matters...thank god it's OVER!...now comes the dreaded WAIT!...so it really isn't over is it? 🙁

Hey Egyptianeyes

Way to go, girl 👍 . Congratulations. Taking the exam is half the battle already.
A quite entertaining post indeed....VERY REALISTIC!! Thanks for sharing your personal experience with us 😉 . Hope all those cups of coffee didn't make you want to run to the restroom every hour 😀 Don't worry, I'm sure you did well. So enjoy your free time now. I felt the same way after taking the darn thing. It does take a good few days to get into a routine of NOT having to wake up, study, eat and sleep and the cycle starts again. I was kind of bored the first few days after taking the exam as I just didn't know what to do with myself. 😛

You sound like me on the day of the exam, especially the last minute nerve-wracking studying part and the feelings after taking the damn thing. :meanie:

All the best with your results. :luck:

Another tip for guessing...

if you guess the same for every question that you need to guess on ...for example you choose the answer "A" for every quetsion that you guess you'll have a higher chance of getting more right from the guesses than if you guess randomly all the time for example choosing A for one and then B for another...and C for another one......

I hope you get what i'm saying.

But this only applies to COMPLETELY RANDOM guessing...if you can eliminate one or more choices before you guess then obviously you have a higher chance of getting it correct....but if your doing comletely random and you cannot eliminate any of the choices do what I said above.

Hi egyptianeyes,
I know exactly what you are saying. My mind was NUMB for HOURS after the test.I gave my test on friday,10th march, and I agree with you totally...the test was a lot different from the released papers.....And since I gave the exam on friday,I had the whole weekend to myself....and it felt like I had a LOT OF TIME! It felt so different, the realization of not having to study after getting home...
Went around the mall with my husband and spent HOURS looking around and shopping...Something I havent done in MONTHS!!!!
Right now I am enjoying myself and READING NOVELS-(Kane and Abel)...my most favourite passtime.......
Of course the wait for the results is nerve-racking,but anyways...this is the time to enjoy coz then comes the next phase of studying for PART 2(or part 1 again-which I hope wont be the case at all)/applications(I HOPE)!

All the best for your results... 👍 :luck:

HEY KHURRAM, 🙂
WHY DIDNT YOU POST THAT TIP LAST WEEK???COULD HAVE REALLY USED IT,YOU KNOW....I DID A HELL OF A LOT OF GUESS WORK.....GOD HELP ME!!!!! 😳
