All the time I hear that it's extremely hard for Canadians to land a residency spot at home. I wonder how true that is? I heard it's even near impossible to get a spot for Canadian IMG'S in Canada.
I heard several experienced docs and med students say the following:
-Simply Canada don't have a lot of spots after Canadian Grads get done with match.
-People say it's hard cause Canadian PD's are ANTI-IMG'S.
-They are a lot of IMG'S who are not working in their related field and doing menial jobs.
Now on the other side things are looking pretty bright for some recent Canadians IMG'S.
- CARMS let IMG'S in the first round matching.
- Some really astonishing Caribbean matches recently Including Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, PMR, Anesthesiology etc.,
- Rotations for Canadian Caribbean med students are little easy to get now than before.
I wonder what's the truth? I appreciate your opinions and thoughts on this thread.
Sincerely,
MDPWR.
