hi guys, plz advise. i am an img with a usmle step-1 and step-2 scores of 96 and 83 in first attempts respectively. i am very unhappy with my score of 83 in step-2.what are my prospects for the residency in the usa.
is the score of step -1 or step -2 more impotant ? which of the scores is given more weightage by the residency prigram directors? what should i do to increase my prospects of getting a residency?
i have also applied for recheck of my step-2ck,can it increase by rechecking? has any body's score ever increased by a rechek?
plz do reply.

correction to above, rechecking results in 100% the same score, have never heard of anybody's score changing. So what if you get a lower score with the recheck..... your scores are just fine.

i do understand u.
if one remembers 200 questions out of the total 368,and out of these 200 questions ,which he remembers ,at least about 150 are correct then how can he get a two-digit score below 90 if out of the remaining 168 questions ,which he does not remember,even if he gets only less than half no. of questions correct i.e;about 60-70 questions only.
in total he still gets more than 215 questions correct out of the total 368.

sir ,to your another question that if my scores get lower by rechecking ,i want to say that i have already fallen from a score of 96 in step -1 to a score of 83 in step -2 i.e. a huge fall of about 13 points.
if i could adapt to such a huge fall of scores ,what can a fall of one or even two points(which is an extemely remote possibility now) from my this score of 83 do to my determination and grit.
moreover, i believe in GOD(ALLAH) that he will indeed get me out of this difficulty soon.
COMPUTERS CAN ALSO MAKE MISTAKES.

I know a couple of guys whose scores have fallen by around 10-16 points. My score went down by 13 points as well and IMGs seem to be affected the most.
