Has any out-of stater who plans to attend U of Maryland know if it is possible to reclassify as a MD resident after the first year? And then pay in-state tuition for years 2, 3, and 4?

Phone calls to the admissions office and registrar appear to indicate that this is true (as long as you are independent, living from loans or U of MD financial aid), but their web site indicates that you are not eligible if you move solely to attend school (which would be my case if I am accepted).

Any SDNers have any experience with this?

Thanks

cant do it if you're moving for school. they make it very difficult - the only way is to own property, work to support yourself, pay taxes, register a vehicle and show why you came to live to MD other than school. good luck
