Hi,
I wonder if rec. letters should be sent directly by professor to aamc or we can get it and send it?
My second question is there any good web sites that have sample essays (the one you put in the aamc application)?

Thanks

unless they've changed the process for this year, reccs do not get sent directly to amcas with your initial application. once amcas sends your application to the designated schools, the schools do their initial review and decide whether or not to send you a secondary application. the secondary app asks (amongst other things) for your reccs. then, it is up to you to ask your profs to send it directly, go through a letter service if your school has one, or do it yourself.

if you ask your profs to send the letters for you to keep them confidential or something, i suggest giving them a stamped, already addressed envelope to make their job a bit easier (especially if you have multiple schools that you're applying to).

hope this helps!

When I was applying last year, I found no websites with essays that helped me. I found a book, though, that helped immensely: "Essays that will get YOU (aydinhatemi) into med school" by Daniel Kaufman, et al. If you're interested in buying my copy off me, PM me.
