As we finish eating our leftovers from Christmas dinners and look forward to celebrating New Year's eve with that special someone (jack daniels), let's look back upon the year and remember the entire med school application process which started in May for some of us 🙂
What part of the process did you enjoy?
Was it visiting other parts of the country that you have never been to before?
Taking in beautiful scenery that you thought you would never see?
Openning up your first interview letter, or your acceptance letter?
What part of the process did you not enjoy?
Filling out AACOMAS and secondaries?
Re-writing your essays 20X and still finding grammatical errors after you sent them in?
The long wait?
Robbing the bank so that you can pay the secondary application fees (which thank goodness is lower than most MD schools)?
As I look back upon the year, it was certainly a year of ups and downs. Of elation and joy, and of sadness and depression (NO, I am not suffering from bipolar disorder, nor am I starting to write like Dickens).
My favorite part of the application process (this year) was:
Openning up that PCOM letter and reading the words that will change my life
A close second is the scenery that I've seen in Maine, Florida, Iowa, etc. - vastly different from the ghetto of Philly 😛
The worse part of the application process this year was:
The WAIT.
So, after reading this rather long post, think back upon this year and answer the questions that I post here today: What did you most like about this process, and what did you most dislike?
I bid you all a cheerful and wonderful New Year and may many of you receive more good news in the upcoming year (and to those w/ good news already, may the happiness continue into the new year).
Cheers
