Now does this make any sense. Rejected from Minnesota in October, Sent Secondary in December because a mistake was made, asked to take a psychology class, registered for it right away paid 400 bucks for it and today rejected again..... Bitter, sweet, and super bitter with second rejection. Strange and depressing things happen daily. Not angry just frustrated.. 😕

Someone help me make sense.....

I would try to help you make sense of this but there is no sense to be made. U of MN has one of the most screwed up admissions processes I've ever had the misfortune of being acquainted with. The number of people I know who have been unexplainably shafted by them far exceeds that of other schools. Supposedly they have one of the most thorough admissions processes throughout the whole ordeal--like they look through primaries carefully before sending secondaries, and again look through all of that carefully before sending interview invites. I guess at any stage of this ordeal they can decide to ax you regardless of the other stages. Don't worry, this is common with them. Their process sucks. I was invited for an interview and it was seriously the best interview of my entire life. The guy was in awe of me...and then I get a rejection. If a perfect interview wasn't enough to get me admitted why was I invited for an interview?

The school sucks you're better off without them.

I can't wait to send MY rejection letter to them.

new guy, who interviewed you? someone on the admissions committee? I am worried now, my interview went really well too and I thought that was a good sign, especially since they accept 1 out of every 2 they interview... also, how fast was your turnaround? I am still holding out for MN even if their process is crazy.
and to the OP, that really sucks about your whole situation, had you started taking the psych class? could you get your money back or will you go through with it?

It's the cold weather...it makes people do random unpredictible things.

When I applied two years ago, it took them two months to reject me presecondary. It was a nice rejection letter though...the type that makes you almost feel sorry for them for having to look at your application in the first place.

After getting that personal phone call from Dr. Becker and then getting a slap in the face telling me silly we were just messin with yeah...

hurts psychologically and financially. Oh well, as someone I know always says "thats the life"

Thnks for input

a once top ranked university is no longer in the same league as other competing public institutions.

The U is still ticked because Gov. T-Paw is shafting them on funds, and because their huge Stem-Cell endeavor is lacking those federal millions...

Damn, minnesota is whacked...I'm an OOS...somehow got to the interview stage...this school has absolutely no organiation...our tour guide forgot to show up so instead of someone in the admissions guide giving us the tour we sat in a board room for an hour...one of my interviewers forgot to inform the admissions office that he wouldn't be able to physically be in his office for the interview because he was doing something in the ICU and wanted to do the interview in the hospital...but the admissions staff forgot about this and i was stuck waiting in front of his office and noticing he had no interviewee he came to his office to pick me up...realled pissed at the admissions people...once I finally got to see everything it becomes really apparent that organization isn't minnesota's only problem...they THINK they measure up with peer schools in the big ten like Iowa and Wisconsin but in terms of facilities and just about everything else there is just no comparison...if minnesota is sinking in the rankings it is likely not because they are getting worse but the aforementioned schools are just getting that much better...in this day in age you need a new medical education building with mock rooms and the works to really be an attractive destination for top students...minnesota just doesn't cut it and thts why they are no longer a top 30 school...those of you who are't headed there you aren't missing much

Well I guess you know everything about the school. Thanks for your well evidenced analysis, based on a single bad experience. Have fun in Iowa, the most boring place on earth.
