This is a bit premature for this thread, BUT I'm just curious as this is my first time applying to US schools...

If a school ultimately rejects you without interview, will they send you a letter at all? Do they even bother? Or will they just send a mass e-mail?

Just curious...

They'll send you a letter via snail mail, most likely. I have 3 of them :)

Only 3? I have FIVE of "we regret to inform you..yadayada".... <img src="graemlins/laughy.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughy]" />

I'll match your 3 rejections and raise you 3 Holds...

I have 6 of em...

but that one acceptance makes it all better!

Congrats, Moo!!!

I was soo tempted to say "me too", except I have yet to fill in my acceptance basket. Ugh. :(

UCLA2000, if my GW and UCSD's "hold for an interview" factors into my total rejects, then I win the game. ;) Ok, maybe this graemlin is more appropriate in this matter.
