relationship btwn med schools and your residency

Hi all,
Eventually I'd like to practice in NY, but I'm wondering whether this will be affected at all by the location of my medical school. I think that for residency, it's desirable to have a residency in a location where you ultimately want to practice.

Going to a medical school in the state where you want to do your residency is only somewhat important. Your odds at getting a good residency are probably affected much more by the quality of your medical school.
