If you go ahead and apply to med school in June with an old MCAT score and then decide to take the August MCAT after you've already submitted AMCAS, do you have to update AMCAS to indicate you're taking the MCAT in August? In other words, suppose you do worse on the MCAT in August than the previous score you had, will your med schools find out if you choose not to release those scores in October? Or do the med schools automatically access the MCAT Thx system and find out that you took it in August and didn't release the scores to them? Does it look bad if you didn't let them know that you were retaking it? Has anyone come across this problem before?

If you're retaking it, let them know, and yes either way they'll find out, you can't choose to withhold your scores anymore.
