Okay. Cliff's Notes version:

An AACOM rep sent out info to a group of Osteopathic educators about a big-name school's summer research program. She then was informed by said big-name school's summer research program director that DO applications would not be accepted & she sent that info out to the same group of educators.

Said group of Osteopathic educators discussed this via listserv. One of these folks contacted the big-name program & now they're saying that they will take DO applications for this summer research program.

Hope that helps a little.

So back and forth. DO's can't do research... we all no that!!!
After all, many people going in to DO school only have a Master's degree.

I hope one of you get that vascular project, that would be awesome! I'll tell you though, things don't exist the way they used to. I'm doing a research assignment similar to this at the "big name northeastern school's" main rival, also a big name northeastern school. So things are definitely changing, it's just going to take some kick ass DO students doing research other than OMM. Sorry to all of you that do OMM, but we really need some students doing NIH funded projects that get in to some BIG papers. Once this starts happening, and it will, things will change, if they don’t integrate before then.
