I think I applied to a good enough range. Despite all those pre-interview rejections, I have a few acceptances.

In regards to safety school, I got a bunch of rejections from them too! (namely vermont!!).

Of course it is best to have a good mix of schools.

While chicago is cold, it's not bitter cold like MN :) The school that has put me on hold has not said anything else to me...Oh well!

•Hi oldman,
I'm hearing a LOT of this from other students. It's good to apply to a bunch of schools, but a common mistake is to not have enough "safety schools" (Vermont, ...) which have more lenient criteria.

Not great news from Loyola...I read several weeks ago on this message board that the class was full. I'm not sure?? (You wouldn't to go there anyways....it's too cold! <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" /> )

Have you interviewed with the school that has you "on hold"? Good luck! :) •••••

Hi Oldman!

•••quote:•••In regards to safety school, I got a bunch of rejections from them too! (namely vermont!!).••••That's hard to believe? Maybe they had to fill some 'quotas'. To the AA people, that was just a joke! Please no hate mail! <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" /> (Sorry, I was in the "<a href="http://www.studentdoctor.net/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=009840;p=5" target="_blank">controversial topic???</a>" thread earlier & I couldn't resist. )

•••quote:•••While chicago is cold, it's not bitter cold like MN</font>•••Good point. I've never been to MN, but I've heard the horror stories! Actually, I think I'd rather be in the North for the winter with a good fire place than having to be in the South for the summer. I spent a year and a half as an engineer in NC and I could've done without the heat. (And that was in the mountains where it's supposed to be mild.)

pay that no mind big daddy. you'll be headed for their hospital for residencies if you choose to go....

Oldman!

I'm sorry to hear that! :( Totally blows. I feel your pain, though, because I received the same "thin letter". :(

Harvard would be cool, but I read Sir William's thoughts on it: You can always go back to school later on and get another degree from Harvard.

I wonder if the competition is even fiercer for the residencies at Harvard than the med school itself?

oh well, doesn't matter.

i was just waiting for that thin letter cause i didn't get an interview there. i knew it was all she wrote. :)
