Quick question: On their website they have written "We require the two applicants who match with our Ophthalmology Residency Program to also participate in this Medicine/Ophthalmology internship program"

However, they take three residents total. Is this a typo or does one of the residents not have to do Utah's mandatory intern year?

Peace, thanks, and good luck to all.

Hmm, that's new this year. last year, i called and was told that it was required of all who matched there. it's an amazing program and the residents have some impressive #s. you spend a good deal of time in the ophtho dept during your intern year...which is not necessarily a bad thing.

I assume you still have to put in a token ERAS application?

I'm sure all three have to go to their internship year. They just added one position last year, and have not updated the website to say three instead of two. The internship is 8 months of internal medicine and 4 months of ophthalmology, unless that has changed in the past few months. You should have an eras application submitted anyway, so that should not be an issue. It seemed to be a good program with high surgical numbers.
