Hey guys and gals,

I am a M1 at an out of state school and want to conduct research over the summer. But the problem is that i also want to spend time with friends and family back home. I wanted to know if you have heard of people conducting summer research and obtaining funding from an away medical school? You have any other ideas on finding ways of doing research?

Your best bet is to find a lab at the away med school that you are intersted in working with and contact the PI directly regarding research funding. I know that my school will not support me financially over the summer for work that I do at an away location...I am assuming that is pretty much what most schools would say. Basically, your school would not stand to gain too much from paying for you to do research somewhere else.

If you can impress a lab at an away school with your research acumen, you could probably get some funding! They will likely want someone who can contribute something to their lab since they will be paying your way.

good luck.
