Hello all,
I heard from a couple of alumni who are in grad school/doing post docs that they had applied for (and received) research grants (not school specific) during their undergrad years.
I was wondering whether:
1) Anyone in these forums knew of any 'common' grant programs that undergrads could apply too? (Something like an R01 for undergrads).
2) Has anyone here applied for a grant as an undergrad? If so, what did the application process entail?

Thanks in advance for your input!

There probably are, but it would most likely be easier and less time consuming to apply for some sort of fellowship. the Howard Hughes Medical institute has a bunch of stuff for undergrads, and your university probably has their own programs.

Since the applications for these programs are probably similar to your med or grad school applications anyway, its like killing two birds with one stone.
