i am a type one diabetic and my career goal is to be an endocrinologist. last week i was hooked up with a research job in finding a cure for diabetes. needless to say i was thrilled...the only reason im apprehensive about taking it is that most of my EC's in the field of diabetes(i plan to shadow my endo this summer). i plan to do other things like volunteer at a nursing home and help kids learn to read. is this acceptable or will med-schools want a more "well rounded individual" -any thoughts?

Drew Daddy, If I were on an ADCOM I would appreciate your well-rounded experiences within a specific field. It shows purpose and drive, and by no means would anyone look down on your EC's just because they were in endocrinology. I'd prefer someone who invested more time in one EC activity than others' who barely dip into many different things. Go for it! + Research is heavily looked upon.
