I know many of you have become part of some sort of summer research program. If so, I have trouble writing the mini-personal statement if that's what you can call it. Any advice how to write it? I applied last year, but I guess my statement wasn't convincing enough. PLease! I need some help. Thanx in advance...

P.S. If anyone would like to give me a sample essay you can email me through here. TY

Giving someone an essay cold is unethical, but here's an idea I used in one of my essays:

Clinical medicine is hands-on and immediately satisfying, but time-limited; There are only so many people a doc can see. Research is all about delaying gratification, taking a long time and a great deal of effort. However, one medical advance (say, some new medication) has the potential to positively effect many more people than one physician could alone.
