I hope that this is the right forum.
In 1948 a South Australian coroner ruled that that word ' Strophantin ' was not to be said outloud in his court, he was ruling on a possible poisoning.
He inferred that this - substance - was not only a possible cause of the death he was ruling on, it was also commonly available.
Research so far has found that Ouabain (spel), a glycoside base substance, is being investigated as a contraceptive. There appears to be a link between the two.
My question is: what was the commonly used substance called by its common users in South Australia in 1948?
With precipitate thanks
