Residency in Which State FL OR NY/NJ will pay most?

anyone have an avg for each state of what hospitals pay their residents?

It's definitely NY but, like Quinn said, the salary does not necessarily meet the high cost of living. Not to mention, the high taxes, high cost of housing (even if it's subsidized) and expenses are other factors that you have to look at.

whether you're making 41,000, or 44,000, it's not gonna be a big gap by any stretch of the imagination.. the fact is that residents work for slave wages. You'll make more in NY/NJ, but the cost of living is a lot more up there.. basically, you'll end up with the same wherever you go----very little.
 
Some of the nycom internships and residencies pay about $48-52,000 a year... pretty nice. Although cost of living is high, you can survive fairly comfortably with this salary.
