Hi, I am a 1st year medical student and am wondering about my residency options, I get allright grades prolly average in my class, I dont really see myself as a FP and was wondering being an average student what are the chances of getting into say radiology, where can I find statistics on relative difficulty of getting into all the specialities, thanks

your first-year grades are completely meaningless. Please focus on enjoying your summer break. Second year grades are just as meaningless, except that the material is important for step 1. Your ms3 grades and letters of reference are much more important. so please relax.

The best thing you can do to increase your chances of matching in a competitive specialty is to do really well on the boards. After that do well in third year and you will be fine.
