Say you moved for residency to a new place

How did you end up meeting new people outside the hospital with your busy schedule? I mean you can't always rely on your colleagues to hang out since there schedules are probably different than yours

I guess this is a question more for single residents than those who are already married and involved in their own thing

I had no problem coordinating schedules with my fellow residents for socialization. Its not like you have a lot of time between residency, grooming, eating, sleeping and studying to be socializing anyway.

I also socialized (and got engaged) to a resident from another program in town.

That said, most hospitals are filled with single respiratory techs, nurses, PTs, etc and there is always church, the internet, random meetings in the grocery store, friends of friends, etc.

As the child of a military officer, I have moved over a dozen times in my life and its never hard to meet people.
