My DAT scores from August 2006:

BIO: 20
CHEM: 16
OCHEM: 24
PAT: 22
RC: 23
QR: 17
TS: 19
AA: 20

GPA: 3.5

I'm reasonably happy with my scores, but know I would be able to do better on the chem and qr sections if I retook. I'm not certain I would do as well on the ochem since I had just finished it a few weeks before the DAT. Will retaking significantly help me?

If your section scores fall below the minimum for the schools you are applying to then you don't have a choice. Otherwise, you're on the right side of the bell curve. If the rest of your application is strong then I wouldn't worry about it. If you have ocd then you might want to retake it just to see if can do better. Send these scores before you retest. You never know what could go wrong.

i would say take again because of the 16 but what you can do is call the schools you plan on applying and see if they have minimum cut-offs

I would say take them again as well, the rest of your scores are solid but do you really wanna waste a whole year because you decided NOT to take them and then all the schools told you after the cycle was over that you were rejected because of your two low DAT sections? Just my two cents...good luck!

Don't know how selective you want to be. I had Bio 20, Chem 19, Orgo 16, QR 16, RC 21, PAT 18, undergrad cGPA 2.9, sGPC 2.6, Graduate GPA 3.5 and I got into Louisville. That was my only interview and offer though. G/L

Apply extra early to the schools of your choice and in the mean time, retake the DAT

two 16's and the rest 22's is worse than all 18's in my opinion. That 16 hurts, but could be doable, the 17 is doable. A retake and raising that 16 and 17 by two points would do wonders.

Think about it carefully.
