I worked my a** off in organic chemistry I this semester and ended up with a B+. I got an A on every exam up until the final where I choked. I spent so much time studying for it, and in the end, I basically panicked during the exam and I couldn't think logically. My question is, should I retake the course or move on and do my best to get an A in Ochem 2? It has been a real challenge for me to the past week to overcome that all my work was squandered in the last 120 minutes of the course.

You're freaking out over a B+? I think the problem is you've been spending too much time in pre-allo. Move on, take Organic II and try not to get so worked up next semester.

The funny thing is that I have never once looked in the pre-allo forums. Probably for that reason. It is unfortunately all from within.

This sounds like the story of my life!
No, don't retake it. A B in Orgo is a pretty good grade. Just work on your exam issues and get an A in Orgo 2 😀

No. It would be a waste of time and the two grades would be averaged together anyways if you got an A. Depending on how many units make up your BCPM it may make little to no difference. If you're all giddy Ochem than instead spend that enthusiasm to secure an A in the rest of the Organic chemistry series. Then try to tutor it, it will make up for any B+ in the subject to admissionsw committees.

In my own case, our college was in quarters so I received a B+,A,A respectively and tutored it after receiving a department recommendation. My B+ never came up once, instead my some interviewers just lamented in how much they personally struggled in Ochem.

Good luck.
