I was told by a premed advisor that I need to retake Gen Chem 1 and Gen Chem 2 because I took it more than six years ago. Anyone here ever retaken science prerequisites and what are the science classes I need to take in order to pursue dentistry? I know I need:

Bio 1
Bio 2
Gen Chem 1
Gen Chem 2
Physics 1
Physics 2
Organic Chem 1
Organic Chem 2
BioChem

Are there any other courses that I need to take?

Also I've taken Gen Chem 1 and received a B in Lecture and an A in lab and Gen Chem 2 i received a B+ in lecture and a B- in lab.
Also I've taken Calculus 1 and received a C.
Additionally, I've taken Bio 1 once as a first semester freshman and received an NC( No Credit)and Bio 2 twice, the first time withdrawing (a W) and the second time an F.
What are my chances for getting into either NYU Dental or Touro Dental?

Are these current grades or from six years ago?

I believe you also need microbiology for most schools. Then, depending on which schools you apply to, you may need anatomy and physiology. But keep in mind that you can take classes at the same time as applying and can gain acceptance before completing all of the required classes, you just need to complete all of the program’s requirements by the time you matriculate. So you can choose to take the above mentioned classes once you decide where you want to apply. The ADEA explorer is a great resource to find out what classes each school requires, so this is where I would start.

When I applied this cycle, majority of my prerequisite courses were almost 10 years old, albeit I completed a masters program rather recently. Never had any issues come up, unless schools had a strict policy on “expired” coursework. Check with the schools that you will be applying to and go from there. If GPA is an issue, I’d suggest doing a post-bac/masters program instead of retaking all of those courses
