Retaking the MCAT

Does anyone know how adcomms look upon retaken MCATs? I took the MCAT once, did ok, then retook them and did much better. Will the substantial improvement cause med schools to overlook my first attempt or will my score from my first attempt have a negative effect on how my score from my second attempt is looked upon by adcomms?
