Is anyone struggling to decide on which DO school to attend? It is a big decision. I was accepted into LECOM and UHS. I was set on UHS, but I think I may be happier at LECOM. The problem based learning program suits my learning style well. Also, I kind of like smaller towns. What are some other steps I can take to find out which school is the best fit? Who else is rethinking school choice? Please share any thoughts about this issue---

Hey, I understand!! I was recently accepted to LECOM and am waiting to hear from Nova (interviewed there on 1/28). IF I had to decide between the two, I'm not sure which I would pick. I really liked LECOM, people were friendly and I liked the smaller town. I think I could be really happy there. Oh, yes, and the cost of living is so much better there than Fort Lauderdale.

On the other hand, Nova was beautiful, has an excellent reputation, and has extensive resources (library, Harvey, etc..)BUT, it's such a large school with the allied health programs sharing the same school (*Was that nosebleed seating in the lecture hall?*). Also, it's expensive to live there and I'm starting to freak about obtaining/re-paying loans.

I'm not sure how to decide between the two, either. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice?

Oh, and congratulations fiesty4 on your acceptances! It's a good feeling, isn't it?!

I'm sure all three schools have pros and cons, but look at the schools rotation sites, ask yourself what state do you want to obtain a residency position? I'm not saying going to a school in PA/FL/MO only allows you to do a residency in that state but it's tougher to find rotations/residencies in another part of the country when your medical school has most of their rotations in their state.

I too understand the dilemma. I was accepted to LECOM, quickly paid my 1500 deposit fee, and turned down interviews at KCOM and UNECOM. Then, I got an interview invite at MSUCOM. And since I am a MI resident, going there would be much cheaper than LECOM. I will probably get accepted at MSUCOM (according to US News&World report--they interviewed 198 last year and accepted 193), so I will have to decide between LECOM (which I really liked a lot!) and MSUCOM (which looks like an awesome school). I am just going to see how the interview goes and decide from there. Best luck to all of you and your decisions!

I'm going through that whole "where do i want to go" thing too. I first got accepted to AZCOM and then NOVA and decided to put a deposit down on NOVA. Then i got into my state school OSU-COM (in okla.) I am thinking about which school(and city) is best for me(and my wife). Also I am taking in the fact that my state school is cheeper. Tuition is 14K less, living is less.
So i will probably end up staying in state. I feel that OSU-COM is a good school and will i will get a good education. Althogh i feel the rotations at NOVA might be a little better(more and bigger hospitals) and the weather always sunny, i just cant justify the extra 100K i would be in debt. its just hard trying to deciding where to go for the next four years of your life.

this sounds super cheezy but-- what did you feel at each individual school?? I interviewed at five and to be honest azcom was the only place i "felt" was right. Everything seemed to fall into place there and the interview was amazing- things just came to my mind that i couldn't believe! This feeling has played a huge factor in my decision thus far.
