There are so many board review courses for comlex but are they worth all the money??? ARe there good books out there that will give me the same high yeild info that the courses claim to provide?? Any suggestions on how to prepare for COMLEX part 1? Thanks

Your best bet is to do a search on this website... this topic has been discussed tons of times before... but here's my $0.02

I didnt' take any review course at all. NSUCOM offers Youel's review, which I did not go to, nor did I take the Kaplan COMLEX review course, which many of my classmates did. I bought the 1999 Kaplan USMLE books (you can probably buy it on ebay) and pretty much used those as well as the Board Review Simulator Series (or something of that ilk). I also glanced at Step Up and First Aid, but they were only about 5% of what I studied timewise...

hope this helps.

oh and I used Savarese for OMT.

Some people swear by review courses. They say the course makes them adhere to a schedule and work harder. If you are one of these individuals, I would say do it.

There are alternatives. I used First Aid, and picked a review book for each subject in the back that received an "A" recommendation.

Cost: Cheaper than a review course.

Time-consuming?: Yes, but easier if you begin early.

Result: I was very pleased with my score.

P.S. I also used Savarese for OMM.

Dr. Evil makes a great point. If you are one that NEEDS a strucutred setup and needs to be prodded to go to class for 8 hrs to review, then review courses are for you.

Me? I'm in the middle. I can go either way. I chose to save the $ and study on my own.

I also am VERY happy wtih my step I score.
