Hey everyone. Wishing you all the best during this application cycle!

I would appreciate any feedback regarding my chances in matching Rheum this year.
I'm a US IMG at mid-size community program in Midwest.
Step 1: 233, Step 2 CK:249, passed CS on 1st attempt, Step 3: 239
3 case reports and 1 oral presentation at regional ACP conference and 1 poster at national ACP (none overtly Rheum-related)
I don't have any publications but am involved in small retrospective reviews which I hope to get an abstract in soon.
None of my LORs are from Rheum attending/faculty as I have my rheum rotation and upcoming outpatient elective in PGY-3.

I'm applying quite broadly (62 programs) with the exception of CA programs and top ranked University programs.

Thanks!

Just applied for Rheum, 2019. Good luck everyone. And let us make this group more active by exchanging information.

Good luck everyone!
Since there wont be much activity here for a few weeks.

Everyone want to share stats or number of programs applied to?

Got the generic “application received” message from NYU this morning.

AMG, smaller university program, poor Step 1/2/3 scores but all passed on the first attempt. No publications, just some submitted case reports. Given the weaker app I applied very broadly (90 programs,) but I’d rather overapply now than kick myself later for not applying to enough.

Got the same general NYU acknowledgement

IMG (Citizen), Step 1: 250s, Step 2: 260s, 1 poster presentation, residency at University affiliated program

IMG (Permanent Resident)
Step 1 and 2 - 250s
Step 3- 220s
All first attempt.
Currently a hospitalist due to family reasons.
Applied last year - got 13 invites. Good interviews. But the competition got the better of me. (Was not PR then though)
Grad of a average sized community hospital. University affiliated.
This year applying to 9 programs as I am restricted by Geography.
As a veteran, I would recommend first timers to apply far and wide, as much possible, if restricted geography is not an issue.

Thanks for sharing, also being an IMG I am interested in how many programs you applied to last year to yield the 13 interviews? I applied to 26

I applied to about 90 some programs last time.
Again, I have good creds, 5 plus first author posters/case reports and 5 plus second /third author ones. No bench research. Was a chief resident.
I believe that I did get ranked but not high enough. Likely the reasons were their own grads were applying and honestly, own grads should take the priority. So I got left out :)
I wouldn’t name the programs merely because of privacy issues and I don’t want it to back fire on me.
A couple in New York, PA -rest of it was all Midwest.

Big Cong!! Only 2 days after the system opens!

May I ask, based on at least previous experience, for those who has not received interviews after seeing the post, what are the chances of them getting interviews later? (Or saying do they send out interviews in one day after reading all the applications they received before that day?). The post is making me really nervous to be honest

Congrats to those who already got invites. I didn't expect it to come so soon already!

My inbox is empty so far. Could you please share us your credentials if you dont mind? ( Those who already got interviews).

dude, its been 2 days...i mean , yeah, one tends to be a bit neurotic at this time of the year, but chill...if after a month you haven't gotten any interviews, that will be more concerning, but 2 DAYS?

I am aware that I would not expect much in 2 days. But I am more concerned about the point of this thread - post interviews people has got. When other people see that they have not got the interview while others do, it dose make people worry. So I am wondering how programs send interviews and whether there are still chances (other than other people canceling interviews) sagger people post their interviews here?

Hang in there, guys...interview invites come in batches...also once a university has sent out an invite doesnt mean that its not going to send out more later on...

Also interview slots become available as people decline the invitations later on...
