Any movement on the Rochester waitlist?
When do you expect it to move---and does it historically move a lot?

Also, do you think sending a new letter of rec will help for those waitlisted? or will schools simply disregard it since "LORS submitted after the deadline are not considered?"

thanks.

Waitlist movement from last year for SDNers (that posted waitlist movement) was as follows (from the 2002 Waitlist Movement Thread):
U Rochester: 5/16, 5/29, 6/3

The 5/29 notification came as a phone call from the Dean.

A comment by oldking from an earlier post states:
"I went to the U of R my freshman year, plus I grew up in the city. I know several people who are students there, and I spoke with the Director of Admissions - they waitlist almost everybody they interview (more than 50%), but most of their class is from the waitlist (something like 70%). So, the waitlist it long, but it moves a lot (but not much until the summer, so hang on)."

I, too, am waitlisted at University of Rochester. I am not sure how I feel about it because I went on a day when it was snowing A LOT and there was already A LOT of snow on the ground - therefore I didn't get to look around much. My feeling is that Rochester is a very reputable school, but it doesn't have the city atmosphere and excitement of, say...Boston. Any comments are welcome on the issue...

saiyagirl, Rochester is moving...I got an email today from the dean to call him, so I did. He said I was really high on the waitlist, so it's probably ranked now. Maybe you can call and inquire about your status. Just to let you know...good luck!!!!!!!!! 🙂

Have you heard anything yet Saiyagirl? If not, then definitely send another recommendation -- if you don't have one ready right away, send in another letter saying how much you really want to go to Rochester, and send the rec as soon as it's ready. Just keep yourself in the forefront of their minds.

Good luck!

It's definitely moving. Got an e-mail from Dr. Hansen, called him, got an offer which I took. So it's all in motion.

Great -- We'll see you next year
