I feel old and slow here with all of the other roll calls. I'm hoping to finish up with my PharmD in 2010 when I will be 35 years old.

Is anyone else out there?

Chris 🙄

Let me get back to you on that.

would like to attend pharmacy school next year but don't have all the pre-reqs finished although i'm taking three right now. still need physiology and anatomy and the pcat(scheduled for oct or nov). may apply this year, but likely will hold off until next year.

class of 2010 baby. darn, i'll be 32.

You and me, both...Heck, I just got my BA, NINE years after taking my first college course (I guess I'm just happy that I beat a 10-year BA!).

If I get my PharmD in 2010, that will be 1 (maybe 2) bach.s and a doc degree in fifteen years...[sigh]

I hope to be in the class of 2010, which would make me 32 years old when I finished. Never too late!

Me!

I'll be applying this year for the 2006 school year. In the mean time, I'm finishing up a few prereqs - anatomy, physiology, micro, speech & econ. I landed a job as a clerk at Longs Drugs and I start my volunteer work experience at UCSF next week.

Thinking about the whole application/personal statement/interview/essay process makes me a little bit nervous. 😳

By the time I graduate, I will be 29-30 (depending on the school I attend).

I am hoping to sneak in somewhere this year but, if I don't I'll try again for class of 2010. I'll be 33 that year. Too bad I didn't think of pursuing pharmacy earlier. Oh well, I have learned a lot over the last 10 years so I have no regrets. 😀

yeah, i regret not pursuing pharmacy earlier. i did chemical engineering for three years, but always wanted to do pharmacy since college. makes me wonder why i didn't pursue it back then. in a sense, it's wasted time because i could be making much more today than i ever could as a chemical engineer and plus this time around i really want to learn this stuff.

I hope to finish pharmacy school in 2009...that would make me 32 when I graduate. I have only been the oldest person in one of my p-req classes so far, but I have been the second-oldest several times. What probably made me feel the oldest was when my lab partner for biology last semester was sixteen!

Don't feel too bad; it's very unlikely you'll be the oldest student in your pharmacy class.

Especially if you are in my class. If I get in this year I will graduate in 2009 at 45 years old, that May my oldest will finish her first year of college, my second oldest will graduate highschool, and other 2 will finish 9th grade and 3rd grade. 😱

I graduate in 2007 and I will be 50. It's worth it though.

I'm almost 22 and I'm about to start my pre-pharm courses at a JC . When i get my PharmD degree, I'd probably be 27/28, if everything goes well.

Right after HS I got a job offer and wasn't focused enough to stay in college. I regret the years that I've "wasted." But at the same time I wouldn't have been as movtivated as I am now if I didn't go thru these years.

I do feel uneased that I'll be 30 or close to 30 when I'm getting my PharmD. I'll feel old (at least the way I see it now.) There's many uncertainties, too many things can happen and change in six yrs. But as I'm not satisfied with my current job/lifestyle, going back to pharm school seems like the logical way for myself.

Sorry for being off-topic.

Actually I currently have an A4 3.0Q... couldn't deal w/ the S4's maintenance and the insurance was just too $$$ after getting 1 tkt. However I still keep my BiTurboBoi s/n 'cos it expresses my interest and I don't know what else I should use.

And yes, I miss my S4. I'll probably get an S4 Cabriolet or nuvolari quattro when I become a pharmie. =)

I regret not doing this earlier also. I've always had pharmacy in the back of my mind during my early college years... that is, before I took O. Chem. I ended up squeeking by with two C's and my counselor told me that to be a pharmacist, one must have a strong backround in O. Chem. 😕

Got a BS in Biology with the intention of doing pharmaceutical research & development. Rethought my goals. Now, I am going to do whatever it takes to get to where I want to be, even if it means sitting through 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 O. Chem classes.

Wasted time and not being productive have gotten the best of me, and plus i stayed in a field that i really didn't like. if i could do it all over again, i would have applied to pharm school right out of college. good thing was, i made some decent money to pay for one year of pharm school. i would have graduated this year, taken my licensing exam, would be working for RiteAid making a cool 90K. then i could invest my money in real estate. instead i'm 4 years behind of where i should be. it's okay, i figure i'll appreciate it a lot more when i get there.

heck, i don't want to take out a loan for 120k but making 40-50k as a chemical engineer stressing out working long, long hours doesn't make any sense. plus i hate it. ENGINEERS ARE NOT APPRECIATED IN THE WORKPLACE. i know i'll be good at this because i want to learn it so badly. i have always been interested in drugs and how they affect the body. i definitely want to become an expert in this field.

C'mon guys, all of the experiences or bumming around that you guys did during your "wasted" years adds to who you are as a human being! Everyone wonders "what if I had only..." But that doesn't get you anywhere. Be proud of everything you've done, every mistake you've made, every accomplishment no matter how small. All of those experiences have made you a well-rounded and more knowledgable person.

Rah-Rah for us!

Chris

I'm glad I did my stint as a chemical engineer. I had the chance to work in a foreign country for a year as well as other places. It's just time to do my real calling.

That's awesome that you've found your real calling. I wonder if I will ever find mine in this lifetime. 😳

Chris

I will be 33 when I graduate (2009). Its funny because in my "former life" in the military, I was always the young one in my classes and in my duty positions. Since getting out and going to school full time, I have definitely changed sides here!
I guess I will just never "fit in" with the crowd!
The other hard thing is going from being a fully working, career minded adult, to back to filling out FAFSA's and working financial aid jobs! I keep thinking about all the travel I was doing a few years ago and how now just visiting my family takes up my travel budget.
Oh well! Getting those letters in front of my name will make it all worthwhile!
