Been put on HOLD since way back in Oct and still waiting for an interview. Anyone know if they are still inviting for interviews and when their last day for interviewing is?

I was put on hold, sent some stuff to them via snail mail to update, but I haven't bothered wasting my energy -- they haven't either. I don't wanna go there anyway. I talked to one of their deans a while back and this is the conversation (July or August of 2002 -- I'm a reapplicant):

Me: So, what can I do to improve my chances?

Her: Ahh.. well that Science GPA is on the lower side (note: I have a 3.1 from a good school --- but she's right). You should think about taking a class or something to raise the GPA

Me (I have no idea about post bac programs): Well, I'm not familiar ... how would I go about doing that?

Her: Good question. Ummmm....

It was the most insanely idiotic conversation. I was referred to her by someone else, and obviously I said, yeah, so and so told me to call you. So she knows I'm calling for advice and she's on an adcom, but she says "good question?" when I ask a f**** question? it's absolutely boneheadedly absurd! If you don't know how to answer that question, yout gotta be a *****. And I have reason to believe that the UIC people are *****s too, after some of these stories I've heard. Who knows, this crap is so random, and to get good help is tough too.

My guess is we'll be getting a letter soon saying "sorry"
Don't sweat it. Rush is wack anyway

Gumshoe,

I don't think Rush is wack school. I interviewed there on March 31. Students are very nice and happy to be there. Although it is not a big school, yet facilities there are highly updated. Personally, I think it is much better than UIC on facilities (I interviewed there also). However, UIC also has its own advantages. One of the notable ones is the price. I just don't think it is right to say something bad about a school if you don't get accepted there. I got rejected to many of the schools that I applied to. Yet, I don't think they are awful at all.

Sorry JWong, I didn't mean to group it and say "it's wack for everyone" --- obviously it could be a good place for some, but as for me, I just don't see it. I guess you'd have to know what Gumshoe is really like to know what that means.

It's not like I'm bitter either. Sure, if it were the only place I got in, yes, I'd go, but I really don't even think I would apply there again if I had to reapply. As I said, UIC is wack in their own right, so comparing them and Rush is like comparing goat turds to chicken ****

I know someone who goes to Rush and while she has adjusted, it took a long while. She chose it because of the price difference between there and Loyola --- and after seeing the ramifications I think she made the wrong choice, because although RUsh may be good, my feeling is that the people, method, etc. at Loyola is flat out better. What's frickin' 5 G's a year when you're going to owe 100K anyway?

Take care,

Gumshoe
