I have a big background in community service, social justice and community health...so Rush is very much in-line with my interests and passions. But, maybe Hopkins could be too?? And at Hopkins, you can do anything you want! I've never been to Baltimore, but I'd probably like it. I reeeeaaally like Chicago. I am from Minneapolis - i have been to Chicago a bunch and have friends there. But Hopkins is Hopkins! I am interested in community health, health policy, addiction medicine, critical care or emergency.

What do I do!?

You clearly wanna be in Chicago. You love the city and it is much closer to your family/friends. Hopkins is obviously the more prestigious school, but I doubt where you go will make much of a difference for what you want to do. The big question is....how do the financial aid packages compare? Lol. In your case, I'd probably go wherever the education is cheaper.

Hopkins and it’s not even close....unless Rush gives you a full COA scholarship and Hopkins is 350k+ of debt

Hopkins will be able to open doors for wherever you or your career want to go. And it will make it easier for you to get to some places than Rush will - and this is no slight at Rush, it's a great school. But think long term.

Unless there is a massive difference in cost or you have compelling personal reasons to stay in Chicago (SO, Family), this should be an easy decision.

I am considering Rush as I strongly align with their mission as well. Honestly, unless Rush is offering a full-ride scholarship, choosing Hopkins will open so many more doors for you. From what I hear, you can expect similar levels of institutional support from JH should you really want to engage in community outreach as a student. Hopkins also has a strong public health program with top notch economists and policy writers on their staff (the school is not far from DC).

Either choice will give you the same chance to be in Chicago for residency.

Lol compare the match lists for both schools and then sleep easy at night knowing that the name "Johns Hopkins" on your resume will get you an immediate interview anywhere in the country in any specialty.

There no lack of need for service and community health in Baltimore. If you want to stay in Chicago and love Rush go there, but from a professional potential standpoint Hopkins is definitely the choice
