I got letter from Tufts saying that I will accept for DMD class 2005 due to no decline in seats for class 2004. WAS THAT SAD??? coz i'm on waitlist somewhere else too. ANyone waitlist at Tufts got the same thing????

Congrats! So you'll be a dentist in 5 years and not 4! 😀
I still haven't received anything! 🙁

I agree, one year isnt a big deal in the long run. Worst case senario is that your apart of the class of 2009.

Totally agree! I wish I had the priviledge of knowing that I got accepted somewhere!

Be thankful for what you got...it could be a lot worse!

Be HAPPY, man! That's great news: you're IN! 👍 Congrats!

that is great news, now you have a year to do anything you want man, travel, etcc.

my question is do other schools offer that kind of acceptance. in particular Marquette, or is that something that I should call marquette about.

Congrats my1molar!

In this situation, there is nothing else to do than to have a great time in the extra year that you have. You can do anything you want.....travel, write a book, work. Anything.

Congratulations on early admission notification!

I say early because I was under the impression that, due to an aggreement among ADEA dental schools, official notification of admission to 2005 entering classes could not be made or offered until December 1, 2004. 🙄

Now if you don't mind me asking, just curious, because Tufts is my first choice school. When did you applied? Was it late? What is your GPA, DAT? And lastly, did you do some observation in a general dentist office? Thank you very much, I really appreciate your kindness. Have a good day! 🙂

Don't you think that there will still be people not going to Tufts at the last minute. So you might still get in this year right? So are you still on the waitlist for this year? I'm still trying to decide if I should go to Tufts this year or not. So if I decide not to go you might get my spot.

congrats on your acceptance.

i too think you should be happy for what you have gotten. there are many people who'd still wanna be in your shoes.

take the year and have fun. go volunteer with a dentist. i am sure you'd love it.

Congratulation ! Be happy man ! 👍

Take a long vacation to Vietnam and enjoy your freetime. I'm Nha Trang right now and enjoying the ocean, coffee and seafoods.

HI to all my supporters,
To my knowledge, only TUfts grant defered acceptances, maybe others do to?? I applied really late in MId Feb 2004, took the DAT at the end of Jan, which was really nuts to do so. My GPA is 3.87, science GPA- 3.94, DAT 19/PAT-only 15. I volunteered for a year at a non-profit dental clinic and involved in some leadership. I'm an international student from Vietnam and will graduate with a biology major/minor in chemistry this August, i don't want to waste one year of working permission granted to me by the INS. I still try to wait for other schools to reply me. If i have to take one year off, I would ask for working in a dental lab or something. I really want to go back to see my parents, but oh boy... dental school is expensive and i have to save from now on for my parents 👎.
Hey, HUYETKIEM, if you pass by Da Nang, say hello for me :meanie:

THANK YOU ALL OF YOU SO MUCH!!!

My1Molar: I got the same letter today! Im thrilled. Tufts is my first choice!! I I won't be graduating until 2009, but hey, I'll be a dentist in the end!! Congrats to both of us. Hope to see you in school next year!!! 😀

While I do agree that you are going to have to twiddle your thumbs for a year, at least you know that you have a spot for the Class of '09. If Tufts isn't your first choice, maybe you can apply to some other schools this cycle.

be happy, you've just been accepted to the best clinical school in the united states, which happens to be located in the best student town in the united states 🙂

I think Case Western does something like this too. I remember at the info reception, the director said that they are the only (yeah right) school to put you on a waiting list and admit you for the next year if there is no room for you in the current class. No new application needed; you don't have to do anything for a year. He said that they will also defer your acceptance for one year (I guess a lot of schools will not do this) if you do get admitted for the current class and for some reason you want to wait one year. You might want to check this out with the office first though in case I remember incorrectly! 😳
