I met this kid last year who was very bright and did very well GPA and MCAT (35+). He interviewed at a top ten school and the interview went quite well he felt, and the feedback from the interviewer was quite positive. Months passed and he never heard from the school. Eventually after contacting the school, it turns out that the school never received any information about his interview; his interviewer had undergone experimental surgery and passed away (poor guy!) and so the interview was never reported. At this school, the interviewers only report when they have positive feedback, which is why it wasn't unusual not to hear from an interviewer. Isn't that horrible?

I heard this one story, about a guy who applied to 99 medical schools, because he wanted to make sure he got the best deal on financial aid, but then he went bankrupt the week all 99 medical schools tried to cash his secondary application fees, so he never got into any schools at all! Now he's an interviewer...except the only question he asks is, "can I take your order?" Isn't that also horrible?

Edit: actually, your story sounds sadder than mine. I'd feel more sorry for the interviewer's family though, than I would for the applicant. I imagine the applicant applied to other schools, but once you're dead, worrying about med school applications probably doesn't rank too highly among your priorities...
