safety schools?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
quickly: schools that are easy to get in to

caveat: this is relative, some of us with okay stats can't even get into our "easy" state schools, YMMV

MAYBE some Carribbean schools could be considered safety - but there is no allopathic school in the US where hitting a certain GPA and MCAT guarentees you an interview, let alone admission. Hence there are NO safety schools.

if you can get a hold of something like US news magazine or MSAR there they compare schools as far as avg GPA, avg MCAT, how many in state/out of state people they accept, and how many people they interview out of the total applicant pool. Do a lil studying and compare stats to the schools and be realistic about your choices. Thats my best advice. But as the person above says there are really no saftey school. Nothing is gauranteed!!!!

The "lower tier" schools I applied to rejected me right away. I was only considered/accepted at some of the better schools I applied to. I think that Med Schools are like Med Students in that they don't want to be beholden to the fickle whims of others. In other words, schools won't take you if they know you are going to go somewhere else. I'm starting to suspect that the only real safety is in applying to a number of schools whose admission numbers correspond closely with your GPA/MCAT numbers.
