FA lists sarcoidosis as one of the causes for both dilated and restrictive cardiomyopathy. It sort of makes sense that sarcoidosis leads to restrictive, but why dilated cardiomyopathy?

Again, FA lists hemochromatosis as one of the causes for both dilated and restrictive cardiomyopathy. Any thoughts?

okay so hemochromatosis in terms of restrictive is simply due to infiltration, which impedes ventricular relaxation.
it is also a cause of dilated cardiomyopathy due to production of ROS which hits the myocytes (recall Fenton reaction) --> OH deprotonates DNA, Phospholipids and Amino Acids rendering myocytes dysfunctional --> systolic dysfunction --> blood not being pumped out --> increased volume in chamber --> increased in wall tension --> sarcomeres in series can stretch --> ventricular chamber radius increased --> DCM!... dang that hurt my brain

not sure about sarcoidosis and DCM, assuming it has something to do with the granulomatous reaction and leukocytes damaging the myocytes
